Merc W202 C180 Sport

Postby Cam » Sun Jun 23, 2013 3:39 pm

I bought this car in 1998 just 6 months old with 7000 miles on it for £22,500. It is a W202 C180 Sport Auto in Imperial Red. The car was a demo vehicle for Mercedes Benz in Watford. To date the car has mainly been trouble free motoring. The only major things that needed to be done apart from the usual service issues, are a replaced wiper linkage, and a new air flow meter. As a daily driver, the old merc has been excellent and frugal.

Since getting the car, I haven't really played with it, it needed to be practical as a daily driver. But I did add a little sound system in the shape of a Kenwood Mask KRC-777R Headunit,+ 10disc changer, an MB Quartz Sub Box, Kenwood Dash tweeters, Kenwood Front Door Speakers, 4x 6" Magnet Rear Shelf Speakers and a Precision Power Amp to power it all.

Eventually the Kenwood head unit and sub failed and needed replacing, so I now have a Rockford Fosgate Punch Sub installed and a Pioneer DEH-4400BT headunit

So that's where the car is for the moment, but it needs a major overhaul, and sound system upgrade. The paint is looking tired now after 15 years with lacquer flaking, so that is the next thing to get sorted.

Paint is the first thing Steve. I've been watching an AMG body kit, but may not go for it. A little bit of lowering, and a set of rims, and finally a sound system upgrade.

I think with just a little bit of fettling this car could look cool. I don't want to go to town too much as it still needs to be a daily driver. :)

I think I could become a bit of a Merc fan. ;)

Although there are things I do miss now I've jumped ship to MB... like steering precision! But the thing handles surprisingly ok. Maybe because it has the AMG sports suspension.

I love the fuel consumption and the much lower road tax (one third of the E92 335i). Once remapped I think performance will be pretty much on par. Put up a few new pics http://www.webnetshare.com/mercedes-benz
