Custom cars builds gallery

Postby Mr_VYS » Mon Aug 26, 2013 2:10 am

So this week we carried out some work on Patric's (e36cope forum) lovely hell rot 328i sport that come in with snapped rear beam studs :( and this is how it went :)

The remains of the studs were still stuck solid in the chassis

But not for too long :)

Next up was extracting the old bushes which is always fun :)

The beam mounting points were showing signs of corrosion so that got dealt with swiftly

Along came the new goodies

Up it all went

Also the pads needed replacing urgently as well as exhaust bolts and hangers

So all in all it just was just another day at cc and one happy bloke! 8)

Nice, do like a red E36.

Didn't put the reinforcement plates on though while it was all dropped out and being cleaned up? :?

E36 evo had strengthening plates on it. BMW do a strengthening kit you buy directly from them. I've had them welded to the bottom of my E36 328. E36 non M has the same problem as the E46 with the subframe pulling/splitting away from the floor with any track use.

I had mine done as it was going to see some track time, but hey if this ones not I suppose its more effort. I would have been tempted though considering the plates are only £40

Mate like always, every day is a school day I thought it was only the E46 which suffered.
Bmw really need to work on their designs.

Yeah you would have thought diagnosing the problem with non-M 36's, fixing it for the M3 e36 how could they let that happen for the E46 M3? let themselves down there. Time will tell if they got it right for the E92

Think they learnt their lesson so hopefully won't happen on an E92. Could you imagine how many good will repairs they would have to do, would cost them millions lol.
