Akuma : I don't particularly "love" my car - well not the way I did my E46... I miss it sometimes! :( Anyway, for a few hundred quid you can make a 335i as quick as the current standard M3. If you want to make the M3 significantly faster it will cost you several thousands , because...

Uh, this is Performance BMW?  Granted some of us only modify for looks (guilty  ) but when buying an M car you get it for the performance. Admittedly, they're highly tuned when leaving the factory but your suggestion that you couldn't extract more power from an M engine than a norm...

I'm not arguing any more CB. We both have valid points in the contexts that we mean them.

Yours: A modified 335i outperform a stock M3. Great.

Mine: A modified M3 outperforms a modified 335i. End of.

Happy?

As I mentioned elsewhere on the forum, a Dinan-tuned E92 335i was within 0.1sec of a standard E92 M3 on the standing quarter mile, when tested in the US. And I would expect the M3 to have slower in-gear times because of its much lower torque. Even with the Dinan mod the 335i would be about £16k le...

Yeah? What about them thar modded E92 M3's? (1) A lot more scope for modding a turbo than an n/a engine. Big torque gains are possible (+112Nm in my case). (2) Even with the modding the 335i will be much cheaper. Hope that helps? Cheaper doesn't always mean faster!   ...
